The Apple STEM Network and regional partners including the North Central Educational Services District, NCW Libraries, the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center, Microsoft, Hooked on Toys, and NCW Tech Alliance are also excited to announce two community events.
Code Green: Tech Recycle & Reuse Event presented by NCW Tech Alliance. Use Computer Science skills to give back to the community and the planet this December. This community-driven event is part of our Computers for Community program, aimed at responsibly disposing of old electronics and giving them a new life. Participants will work together to remove hard drives from outdated computers and prepare them for use in donated devices. No prior experience is required, and everyone is welcome to participate. The event will be December 10, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, at 1000 Bolling Street NE, Moses Lake in the NCW Tech Alliance Building, on the Big Bend Community College Campus.
Santa’s Computer Science Workshop, a free community event at Pybus Market on December 14th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., is designed for all ages to engage in hands-on computer science activities. Participants can explore coding, AI prompt engineering, and create electric circuit Christmas cards while learning about the role of technology in the modern world.
This event is sponsored by The Apple STEM Network, Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center, NCW Libraries, North Central Educational Service District, NCW Tech Alliance, and Microsoft.
By hosting these activities, schools and community partners emphasize the growing importance of computer science in education and everyday life. These events not only spark creativity and interest in STEM careers but also equip participants with skills to navigate an increasingly digital future.
“The Apple STEM Network is thrilled to bring together students, families, and community members to celebrate the possibilities of computer science. Whether through the Hour of Code or engaging events like Santa’s Little Computer Science Workshop, we’re inspiring the next generation of tech innovators while creating a shared appreciation for the impact of technology,” says Holly Bringman, Apple STEM Network Coordinator.
All are welcome to attend these events and explore the power of computer science.
